From the movie “Alien” I decide to choose the following actors: Tom Skerritt, Harry Dean Stanton and Sigourney Weaver.
Actor : Tom Skerritt,
Skerritt played role of Capt. Dallas of the commercial cargo spaceship “ Nostromo” in Sci-Fi franchise “Alien” (1979) as a supporting actor. His role transmits to a strong co-staring role in connecting of many episodes of the movie. His character as a captain is to be a leader of the crew, and during the crisis situation, he is to try to keep the crew out of danger. In fact, Tom Skerritt was playing his role as nice and respectful top officer, who wants to return his crew and a ship safely back to home on Earth.
Skerritt turned up again in another thriller, playing a cop hunting a serial killer in the eerie “The Dead Zone” (1983), as a Navy Officer Flight instructor in “Top Gun (1986)”, in the six-chick flick “Steel Magnolias” (1989).
Also he was the poster boy for a “Guess” Jeans ad campaign utilizing his mature, weather-beaten features. Skerritt didn’t forget his TV background and reappeared on the small screen in “Cheers” (1982), “The China Lake Murders” (1990) and picked up an Emmy in 1994 for his performance as Sheriff Brock in the superb series “Picket Fences” (1992).
Actor ,Harry Dean Stanton
His role in the movie as Samuel Elias Brett was the engineering technician aboard the commercial towing spaceship “Nostromo”.
He is a solid supporting actor, his role in a movie as a person which was hurt by a violent childhood. He studied at the Engineering Trade School, where he earned a degree in engineering. Prior to his posting aboard the “Nostromo”, Brett served aboard the USCSS Hurd. After the crew member Kane was killed by the alien organism, which was implanted inside him, Brett constructed several sturdy nets to help catch the alien creature, and with assistance of several catching electronic detectors the crew set about finding it.
The crew members, Brett, Parker and Ripley soon detected a signal, but it was a ship cat. Brett let him go. During a following attempt to find a newborn alien creature, Brett was killed by fully growing organism – Alien. He masterfully played short, but psychologically stressful role and brilliantly performed his acting role.
Stanton appeared in numerous feature films, many of them Westerns, before starring in 1984’s Paris, Texas and the cult classic Repo Man. Later films include The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), Hostages (1992), The Green Mile (1999), The Straight Story (1999), and The Pledge (2000).
Actor: Sigourney Weaver
Actress Sigourney Weaver is known as a leading actor for her roles in films sequel “Aliens”, “Ghost Busters”,” Working Girl” and super blockbuster –“Avatar”.
At the beginning of the movie “Alien”, actor Sigourney Weaver as an officer Ripley, a security officer, does not stand out against the other team members. Her star role begins from the episode, when a research group was return with immobile crew member after the attack by unknown beast. Ripley was trying to prevent the penetration of alien organism aboard a space ship, but unsuccessfully. After this episode, the officer Ripley slow converts to the main hero in this movie. She takes the lead role in the organizing of the search, and then the destruction of the alien organism. She is the only member of the crew of Nostromo, who survived, by destroying the spaceship and the cargo.
Sigourney Weaver does a genuine job as an actor in movie “Alien”. From disclosure of nature …… we see step by step her crusade from a quiet officer in a team of a “Nostromo” , to the role of the hero, or a leader and a main character of a crew. Ripley is a regular person, not a postcard hero with steel nerves and giant muscles. She as a human had been just much stressed with extraterrestrial aggressive form of life which occupied the insides of her ship .The very unusual circumstances forced her to become a leader of the crew of Nostromo. I think, just because of these extremely scare circumstances, her internal psychology reserves were opened, which helped her to lead the team in an emergency situation. Because of an officer Ripley, the crew of the ship became one fighting team.
In 1986, Weaver repriced her Ripley role for the “Alien” sequel, “Aliens”, which garnered the star an Academy Award nomination for best actress.
Two years later, Weaver garnered two more Oscar nominations—in the best actress category for her performance in “Gorillas in the Mist”, and in the best supporting actress category for her portrayal of Katharine Parker in the film “Working Girl” (both released in 1988). Sigourney Weaver a typical star actress, the one that has most of the lines in movies and has the biggest importance to movies or other show.
